Vocational Education and Training Subjects
Miles SHS is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for several nationally accredited VET courses including Engineering, Furnishing, Business Skills and ICT. These courses offer Certificate I and Certificate II outcomes for students interested in specific vocational areas. The course are highly skill oriented and are competency based.
School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships
Miles State High School is actively committed to facilitating SBAs and SBTs. These programs support students who wish to follow this vocational education pathway. The school-Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship programs allow students to study for their QCE while completing a nationally recognised training qualification as a paid employee. Benefits to the students include: increasing employability; firsthand experience in an industry; and effective progression from school to apprenticeships. Some examples of traineeships that students have undertaken are: Automotive, Hairdressing, Agriculture, Office Administration, Hospitality and Business. Students wishing to undertake an apprenticeship or traineeship should first contact the HOD Senior School or the School Transition Officer.
